MerCruiser has always gone way beyond accepted standards for marine propulsion. And the result has always been maximum performance and reliability; minimum maintenance; and a practical, built to last ethic that defines our every effort.

All MerCruiser engines are designed to run on 87-octane fuel, because it is readily available and less expensive than special high octane fuels. Water-cooled and insulated fuel systems on all gas fuel-injected engines help keep temperatures down to reduce the potential for vapour lock. Standard dual water pickups on all Bravo One^® drives provide a constant flow of water to the engine for enhanced reliability and performance.

Long ago MerCruiser^® realized a simple fact: advanced technology has to do more than just perform. It has to perform reliably. Year in, year out. And it has to be easy on the owner when it comes to upkeep. That's why all MerCruiser engines are designed not only for maximum performance but also for minimum maintenance. How minimum? Most scheduled maintenance on gas models is a three year/300-hour intervals, although some scheduled maintenance is required more frequently as specified in the owners manual.
